BIL Conference: Self Organizing, Emergent & Anarchic
There's been a bit of buzz around the BIL Conference on March 1-2, 2008, starting on the Saturday that TED ends, with hopes to get a few minds from TED to join them on Sunday the 2nd. Touting unconventional in every way, it sounds more like an unconference, where there is no agenda or speaking head to set a particular tone.
It is promoting itself as an open, self-organizing, emergent, and anarchic science and technology conference where absolutely no one is in charge. And there's a beautiful bonus - there's no charge.
They don't want to exclude folks because they can't afford it, especially folks who may have a brilliant idea to share but may otherwise be standing on the sidelines because of the expensive barriers to entry most traditional conferences present. There's also a wiki where you can learn more and register.
