Better GPS Systems In the Works
If you use a GPS system, you'll love this article.....I got a Garmin shortly after moving to the city and sometimes it performs and other times, it flakes, often when I urgently need to get to a meeting.
The MIT Tech Review piece talks about GPS progress and developments - the system that never fails? Unfortunately, GPS signals get blocked by buildings and under tunnels and I've particularly noticed in San Francisco, that it is affected by weather conditions as well.
There's a prototype in the works that apparently uses advanced processing of stereo video images to fill in GPS gaps, which means they'll be able to maintain location accuracy to within one meter. Check out the above link for the full scoop.
