Web 2.0 Ecosystem
Business 2.0's Erick Schonfeld writes a reflective blog post about the value of Web 2.0 start-ups and as a reference point, incorporates an ecosystem slide that was created by client eSnips' CEO Yael Elish recently. Click on the image to enlarge it.
While he points to the flaws of Alexa Web traffic numbers in general (and we all realize there are flaws with Alexa ratings on their own), he does admit that it helps you "visualize how one company may be doing against another."
The chart shows that Wikipedia, YouTube, and MySpace are worth more than $1 billion, with companies (rather services) in next in line wiht LinkedIn, FeedBurner, Digg and Technorati ranging between $100-500 million. eSnips is in a very healthy position, particularly given how crowded the social networking space is right now and their numbers continue to climb.
