BlogHaus in Action at CES

The BlogHaus concept at CES this year was a great idea – both for Seagate and PodTech. They took over a suite in Las Vegas' Bellagio for the duration of the convention and turned it into essentially a home for bloggers to hang out, write and exchange ideas and stories.

The venue was all things comfy, thanks to Linda Furrier, who put the concept into action and got the suite ready in time for the show. Kudos to you girl.

In addition, there was an incredible team who managed to make everyone feel "at home," including Myriam Scoble, Valerie Cunningham, John Furrier, Robert Scoble and an entire list of people I don't have, including some of the Seagate folks. Whether they were officially on-staff or not, those who spent time in the suite seemed to contribute to the overall positive energy of the place. I'd call it a huge success.

Bean bags were thrown across the floor. Tea, coffee, water, sandwiches and cookies were always ready for the grabbing and it was cozy, like hanging out in a conference room of a company you really loved that you just happened to work for. Photo below taken by Thomas Hawk. I took a few more which have been uploaded to the CES 2007 photo album (see albums on the left).

WiFi actually worked and as a back-up numerous Ethernet cables and power outlets were available on a large conference table at the rear of the suite. There was even an Ethernet outlet in one of the two bathrooms, right next to the toilet. Yeah, call me on it, but I'd like to know whether someone sat on the pot and actually blogged.

I spent the last afternoon in the BlogHaus working. I'd look up and see other bloggers and vloggers sprawled around me, whether it be at the table, on the bean bag chairs or in the comfy suite chairs behind them. Phil Wolfe on the couch, Mary Hodder at the end, Thomas Hawk across from me, Paul Mooney and Kris next to me, Jeremiah at the other end. I also met a few new PodTech hires I didn't know and managed to catch some precious time with Steve Gillmor's wife Tina, who is really a joy to know.

Blog Haus was a great idea, I hope it becomes a tradition at CES! Have you seen the video on Travelistic? I've seen a few on Blog Haus, but this is one of my favorites, check it out:
