More and More Money in Tech
The buzz continues. Ouch - is this for real? I keep running into the MobiTV guys at every industry event and hear their pitch, their story, their business plan and now they have a new $70 million to execute. Says GigaOm, an example of the return of the big VC money. (they're not the only ones).... If living in the Valley pre-2000 was any more inflated and artificial than this, I'm thrilled that I'm a newbie. And yet on the East Coast, I wasn't that far removed from the noise.
The funding is apparently their Round C, bringing a total of $125 million raised since they started the Company in 1999. Watch the blogosphere for comments, speculation and words of wisdom on this one. I don't even know where to go with $70 million.
I have a client who raised $2 million yesterday, and its more than enough to grow their network. (okay, not their series C, but still, $125 million?). Executive attitudes in the valley are changing. It's remarkable to watch.......perception is so much part of the game is it not? It is interesting that a media influencer I've known for years asked me on the phone tonight, "what's your blog again?" When I told him, he said, "yeah, yeah, I've been on there a few times, but its a PR blog." (DING) I had to laugh. I rarely blog about PR, but I guess perception is everything, well nearly everything.
