Sharpcast Photos Beta Syncs PCs, Web & Mobile Phones
Today, client Sharpcast announces the availability of Sharpcast Photos Beta, which automatically synchs PCs, the web and mobile phones.
On the heals of a fabulous Walt Mossberg WSJ review, what great timing for people to try it out.
It's the simplest way I've ever experienced to share, sync, back up and access digital photos from anywhere. I was in the Sharpcast office yesterday testing out the mobile features on my fairly new Treo 700. I still need to download an update from Palm (unrelated to Sharpcast), but can't wait to start playing with this 'in the field.'
Digital photography is already an integral and important part of my life, so sharing photos -- the Sharpcast way -- with friends, family and peer groups will be a huge time saver and quite frankly, its fun.
Key here - it works whether you are online or off. Any change made in one place, even while offline, is automatically made everywhere else. Sharpcast Photos eliminates the complexities of accessing, sharing and backing up photos by keeping a person’s desktop photo collection automatically synced with the web, other PCs and optionally with a mobile phone.
I particularly love the additional and more advanced sharing and management features they've added in this release. And Mobile is finally out - alpha version only, optimized in the U.S. for the Motorola Q, the Palm Treo 700w, the Sprint PPC-6700 and the Verizon XV 6700.
The Sharpcast Photos mobile edition Alpha seamlessly synchronizes photos between mobile phones, PCs and the web without relying on a mobile web browser, effortlessly sending pictures taken on the phone back to the PC and the web and automatically and elegantly displaying a person’s desktop collection on their phone. Any change made anywhere – on the phone, PC or web, is automatically made everywhere else. Pretty cool, eh? Wait until you try it out.
Since its still in alpha, there's a limited number of photos per album (30), but that will change as things progress. They plan to deliver a client for other Windows Mobile 5.0 products later this summer, and expect to announce plans for more mainstream mobile phones by the end of this year.
