Bye Bye Rocketboom's Amanda Congdon
I met Amanda Congdon for the first time in New York a couple of months ago at a syndication event, where she did a presentation about Rocketboom and its future. Yesterday, I discover yesterday that she's leaving and yet, when I ask people about Rocketboom, nearly everyone references her first. Some in fact only go to Rocketboom to see Amanda 'perform' in quirky short three minute segment video clips.
Apparently, she explains in a farewell video (in full transparency) that she owns 49% of Rocketboom and Andrew Baron owns 51% and that Baron doesn’t want to be partners with her any more. Ouch.
I can't tell whether she's ready to cry or if its a joke to draw us in - you know, bring the sensationalism of traditional TV to digital video. Yet, Rocketboom's website says that she has decided to move to LA to pursue opportunities that have arisen for her in Hollywood. They say that they are looking for a 'replacement.' Hmmmmm.
