Tools and Communities
I'm sitting here in a session on cool tools and communities; starting with a comment about how communities form and the respect that we have for a particular community. They refer to Larry Lessig's recent session on copyrights and mashups, asking does copyright apply or not and contemplating if there is a creative act or not.
We're doing a brainstorm and they ask us to write down everything that we can think of that made us 'appreciate and better understand mash up camps. For the developers in the room, a slightly easier task.
Ross Mayfield sits across the room from me, next to him Mary Hodder and Doc Searls (Doc photographs those leading the session), Bob Frankston contemplates what to write yet the developers behind me in the far right corner are writing away. I continue to observe more than participate given my role and interest in attending.
They really should put right brains and left brains in one room together far more often.
