French Lessons a New Way
What's with the number of intense reflections lately? I seem to be having a whirlwind of them....they jump from foreign country to foreign school, from lakes to mountains to glass buildings, views from harley davidsons and conversations on midwest diner stools.
Isn't this a 'getting older' thing? I'm not going there, so let's just say, I've had a series of mindful reflections lately.....bombarding me like torpedoes. I know why, I know why.....its the moving forward at rapid rates versus being mindful to the simple 'being still moments,' isn't it? Kinda why I wrote the exponential growth or silence post.
Perhaps its time to write that novel, something I've been wanting to do for years. And so, there are suitcases of notes and starts.....and stops. No time. So perhaps its not the right time and yet......
Ah yes, and yet.....
When I lived in Europe, we used to have French lessons on a paper tablecloth at some cafe that faced a port or another amazing view. We would conjugate verb after verb until we'd fill the space up, then we would scrunch it up, ask for another one and continue....this would go on for hours, starting with food and wine, then more wine, ending with more food and better coffee than I've ever had in this country. Anywhere.
A friend of mine IMed me recently from Paris and we started having french lessons over Yahoo Messenger. There are more suitable emotional smiley faces on Yahoo Messenger than any other IM service out there, which only strengthens and adds humor to the lesson. Or is it just your etat d'esprit?
The verb I always get wrong time after time: Se souvenir? Anyone else struggle with this one? Ironically enough, its 'to remember.'
Perhaps, that's the issue. "Je ne me souviens de rien" - at least en francais.
