Blogging in North Carolina
The LA Times writes about Greensboro North Carolina and its local newspaper the News & Record, with a daily circulation of not quite 100,000.
They have launched a new project called the "Town Square" project, which is all about celebrating the "region's proud colonial and democratic heritage." Apparently Greensboro has a healthy blogging culture, so bloggers will become an integral and important voice with the newspaper and community and bloggers may in fact be invited to editorial and budget meetings.

Indeed, Greensboro, AKA: Blogsboro, has a strong blogging community. Why just a few weeks ago we raised 10 K to cover the medical expences incurred because one local blogger's wife has breast cancer. We managed to get 1000 people on the street for an all day party/fundraiser without MSM advertising.
Then last week we proved yet again that we're able to change the decisions of our local politicians even after their votes have been cast.
What's next? We're keeping it a secret but it's big.
Thanks for writing about us.
