The Latest on HORROR from Top Film Directors at #SXSWScott Weinberg moderates a panel of horror directors at SXSW today, which included Ruben Fleischer, Robert Rodriguez, Matt Reeves, and Todd West.
Quentin Tarantino was supposed to be joining the panel but couldn't make it last minute apparently. Regardless, the room was packed and people waited for two hours to get in the door.
There's been a trend away from nudity and showing tits in horror films in recent years says someone from the audience - "why is that?" The directors discuss.
What does nudity to a horror film? Says Marshall, doesn't feel that it adds very much, unnecessary for a film to make a point.
Rodriguez who has used a lot of topless models in his film, talks about sexy scenes he felt added more with clothes rather than nudity.
Says West, "if you're going to add nudity, it needs to add something to the film by incorporating it, otherwise, why bother?
They talk about the value of re-makes and what each of the directors would choose to re-make if they could. Re-make or make something completely new?"
"Weinberg asks, "if you were to do a re-make, what would it be?" Ruben says he'd prefer just to do something new rather than make a re-make.
