Discovery Inside Twitter
Check out some of Paul Gillin's takeaways on the value of Twitter. He thinks its the most efficient mechanism for discovering interesting information. I agree that it has that potential, but am still finding it too noisy to get the "gems and rubies" easily and efficiently.
He notes that he could spend all day reading and browsing.....that's the thing. It's addictive and the more I dive in, the more it draws me in, hence its massive following. It's brilliant how it captures you not unlike the early days of Google did when you couldn't believe you had an answer to your question in seconds. That information -- discovery or not -- needs to get more refined before it becomes efficient, at least for this user.
On search, you can find out what people are saying about a topic or you by going to Twitscoop and Monitter, a micro-version of Google alerts but in a different format.
He notes that Google Alerts currently doesn't index but to check out Filtrbox for that capability.
Frankly, I have a few Twitter 'geek' issues that I can't find online and Help Desk hasn't answered, so if you are one or know of one, let's talk.
