Silicon Valley Biz Journal Emerging Technologies Awards
The Silicon Valley Business Journal held their annual Emerging Technologies Awards tonight at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA.
Client MetaRADAR was a finalist in the Entertainment category although given that their service is not yet available to the public and it is really more of a web services play than an entertainment play, I'm not surprised that they didn't win the grand prize. Once we roll this out to the masses, just hang onto your seat and watch those awards come pouring in :-)
Other categories included Internet technology (no specific Web 2.0 or services), collaboration, biotech, medical devices, mobile technology, security, resource management, wireless and networking, social networking and Clean & Green.
MyDoubleHelix won in the Internet category, MyQuire in Collaboration, ARYx Therapeutics for Biotech, HP Labs for Medical Devices, FoneMine for Mobile Technology, Check Point Software for Security, Data Robotics for Resource Management, Propel Software for Wireless and Networking, Powerset for Search (based on natural language processing), Mig33 for Social Networking (was not aware of them before tonight), and LS9 for Green & Clean. (ditto).
The Visionary VC Award went to Deepak Kamra of Canaan Partners. He has led investments in Acme Packet, AllBusiness.com Bharat Matrimony, Concord Communications, DoubleClick, iPrint.com, Latitude Communications, Match.com, PriorityCall Management, Recourse Technologies, SuccessFactors, and SalesLogix. He certainly knows how to work a camera and this was taken in extremely poor light 20+ feet away.
