Time to Upgrade
Time to upgrade cameras. Lighting is okay most of the time, but there is just too much I want to experiment with that a small shooter can't provide, regardless of how many megapixels this baby has. How to get around the SLR-like sized camera at events is the question.

Renee - I bought my most recent Digital camera only 18-24 months ago, and things have changed remarkably. Take a peek at the relatively new Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 (review at http://www.dpreview.com/news/0602/06021405panasonictz1.asp - and DPReview is a great source, BTW). My brother bought this last year, and somehow it is nearly the equivalent of the larger near-SLR I'd bought - and in many ways it's better!
It's not as thin as you can get these days, but 10x zoom, very fast shutter speeds - it's definitely worth a look if you haven't purchased a replacement already. Very reasonable compromise on the size versus capabilities.
Cheers,
Dan
