The Pubbies: Act II
Yesterday, the San Francisco Bay Area Publicity Club presented "The Pubbies," the annual Media Excellence Awards at the Meridien Hotel.
Lurking was last year's host of ceremonies Liam Mayclem from "Eye on the Bay" and this year's host, comedian Will Durst, who I had the pleasure of sitting next to when he was not in the limelight.
CNET's Harry Fuller was also at my table, who won the Best Assignment Editor award. In addition to being witty, articulate and funny, I discovered that he's into bird watching, which I picked up an appreciation for in Costa Rica a few years ago.
I was thrilled to see industry bud Dan Fost of the San Francisco Chronicle win in the Best Business Reporter category. Matt Mashall was also nominated, who I also love to read on a regular basis. A Happy Dan with award in hand below.
Will Durst was humorous and engaging, and most certainly added color and life to the afternoon. In addition to stand-up, he co-hosts the Will & Willy Show on 960 AM between 7-10 am with former mayor Willie Brown.
Best podcast went to NoOne's Listening and it appeared that the whole team was present and flattered. They started the podcast as a radio show for San Francisco State and it has transitioned into a successful podcast with growing listeners. The team below, Colin White, Skye Christensen and Christopher Cornell.
