Podcast Popularity
Ventura County Star talks about the growth of podcasting and how they are now the "biggest phenomenon on the web."
They point out that many are under the impression that you must have an Apple iPod to experience a podcast......it strongly encourages users to download and listen to them, explains how and sends people to Podcast.net, where people can search by topic, and Podcast Alley, which allows you to search for podcasts via genre. The article also gives client Sharpcast a positive plug.

I wonder if video blogging/casting will beat out podcasting due to the following:
1) Visuals are more compelling than spoken word
2) Usually sound is background activity, but most podcast shows are spoken word which makes it harder to listen to in a secondary way
3) Not everyone has iPods
4) People like watching TV (aka videos) more than listening to talk shows.
What do you think?
