West Coast Diners
Hey East Coasters, ever need an East Coast 'diner' fix since you moved west? I had one recently and while I couldn't find a 'true' New England diner anywhere close to my neighborhood, I discovered Ed's Diner on Grand in South San Francisco.
In some ways, remarkably traditional, including the weathered skinned man sitting next to me reading a traditional newspaper. No laptop in the place. Can you say refreshing loud enough?
Despite all things traditional, like the $1.50 coffee, the blueberry pancakes, eggs over easy and grits with butter, I was reminded that I wasn't in Kansas anymore when I saw a Numi stack of tea on top of their old Coca Cola machine. A little organic green tea with that french toast and syrup?

I miss diners. I always try to visit one when I'm in New York, as well as having a slice of New York pizza.
