Lyric Time with Jewel

At 8:30 am this morning, I set off to see a mini-Jewel concert sponsored by STAR 101.3. Odd time for a concert, you may be thinking. It was a private one hour promo with only 75 VIP attendees, comfortably crammed into San Francisco's Roe Restaurant on Howard Street.

With such a small audience, I was reminded why I loved/love the folk scene (yeah, I know, her category is all over the place - she's folk, country and a bit of alternative and new age combined together), yet she recently just received honors from the country music awards.

Guick bottom line and above it all comment: What a F-G amazing voice.

Host of STARR's Morning Show Don Bleu interviewed. He's a tad older than he looks here, but still attractive, witty, engaging and funny. Update your profile Don (real name Rick Kelleher). You're still gorgeous with your silver top.

Oddly enough, I rediscovered her sitting on my iTunes list a couple of weeks ago. Lying dormant like so much of our music does when we have access to everything, I was categorizing and tagging until 4 am like some 23 year old dreamer who has more time than hours in a day to spend on music, literature and art.

She's Folk, noooo, country? Egads, where do I put her? Three days later, I'm sitting in the second row of a small lounge listening to her being interviewed by engaging Don and singing a sample of people's favorites and a couple she decided upon regardless of our pleas.

I'm holding a guitar Jewel signed moments before, which will be auctioned off. Does everyone know she lives in a ranch in Texas, still rides daily and does farm chores? She reminds us (whether you're 20 or 90) to follow your dream, your passion and most importantly your intuition for as lyrics from one of her 500+ songs reveal - once you turn your head off, your intuitive state becomes clearer and clearer AND clearer. (Okay I added the last two).
