Crashing iPod

Apple enthusiasts love to tell me how much better the Mac is, how it never crashes, is always reliable and has less bugs. I used a Mac years ago -- and love it -- and while there's NO shortage of Microsoft-related software conflict (and beyond) issues on my current PC, I've come to terms with it and have figured out quick fixes for the most part, or at least know who to call.

My first exposure and re-entry into the Mac world after years of being a PC woman was with the iPod roughly 6-8 months ago.

Ask me how often this damn thing (which I've grown to love and adore and grow addicted to) crashes?
Ask me how often this damn thing crashes and does NOT reboot? At least Windows reboots.

It was a gift so who knows about a warranty, if there was one and what my options are. For now, I'm out of luck. No music in a house is a house without energy, a house without silence, a house without love, a house without serenity. Yeah, okay, so I'm exaggerating. In other words, a house without music is a terribly ugly place.

Thanks Apple and kudos to all of those who tell me their products never crash. More than Windows so far. Right now, my iPod is a non-working unit. Right now, my home is without music, which frankly, is much more dramatic than a home without email.

iPods are great, but when they crash it's really bad, and Apple's service is awful - I had one sent back twice with no luck.

Check this out - these guys will buy your used iPods, then they refurbish and sell on eBay...

Thanks Chris. Back to square one. You pay high dollar for a product, it doesn't work and you're out of luck. Meaning, you eat the cost of it regardless if it works or not. Doesn't entirely seem fair.

Sometimes it makes you want to move to an industry that just works, at least most of the time.

All Apple products (including iPods) come with one-year automatic Apple Care. Since you got this item 6-8 months ago, it would seem to be covered. I just went through the process of returning my dead iPod, and received a new one in under 5 days, and didn't pay a dime. It's worth a quick visit to their support site (I never even talked to a person, all automated, super simple) http://www.apple.com/support/ipod

I feel for you. Don't know what I'd do without my iPod!
