Be The Dance
I referenced Lee Ann Womack in a blog post earlier today and upon reflection, think the words to her I hope you dance are so fabulous that I wanted to post them as an important reminder.
A reminder that we must always be part of the dance in our lives rather than a bypasser. We must not be the teacher who hasn't gone through the lesson ourselves, the mother who gives advice but doesn't participate, the lover who doesn't have empathy and understand what its like to live life in your shoes, the politician who dictates that other countries abide by his belief system, the CEO who has never met the janitor.
I'd take it a step further. Don't just participate in the dance, but wherever you can, Be The Dance.
We have all heard this song multiple times on the radio, and while I love the melody, I nearly cry every time I really listen to her beautiful lyrics:
|
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance I hope you still feel small And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance (Tell me who) |
