Ashcroft Gone
Are we surprised? We shouldn't be. Attorney General John Ashcroft and head of the Commerce Dept. Don Evans are both stepping down.
Ashcroft championed many of the most controversial government actions following the Sept. 11 attacks, most notably the USA Patriot Act. I wonder how many Americans know that he offered optional prayer with his staff before kicking off the day.
In his resignation letter, Ashcroft said he was moving on to "other challenging horizons." Now, what might they be exactly I wonder? And Evans is heading back to Texas. What's he going to do there?
It will be interesting to watch other departures and changes as the days progress.
