Off to O'Reilly's DigiFoo
I'm heading north to experience an O'Reilly's Digifoo weekend.
I'm told to 'prepare myself,' that its mostly a 'geek fest,' (was told that by geeks in fact), and to bring my sleeping bag because you're probably "campin' out." I was also told that it was a gathering of an incredibly smart and interesting group of people who had a lot of passion and talent. Strong words.
Digital Media Foo Camp brings together about 150 people at O'Reilly's offices in Sebastopol in northern California.
This particular camp will explore life on the digital cutting edge, including digital photography, video, audio, and imaging.
Why "Foo?" It apparently stands for Friends Of O'Reilly meaning you need an invitation to attend, and is also a marker word (like "widget") beloved by the computer hackers who have inspired much of O'Reilly's work.
More when I get there.
