9/11 Reflections: Written by Long Time Friend's 90 Year Old Mother
Written by a Long Time and Dear Friend’s Mother Beatrice L. Farnum at the age of 88. Her daughter-in-law was the maid of honor at my grandmother’s wedding.
My Morning Prayer
A new day thou hast given me O Lord!
Thank you for the clearness of eyes to see the sunshine
Streaming through the windows of my room.
Thank you for the strength to arise from my bed and be about the duties of my day.
Thank you for the feet that hold me up and take me here and there and up and down the stairs.
Thank you for my hands that hold a needle and still strong enough to hold a baby cradled in my arms.
Thank you for clearness of mind that lets me understand your way of life for all mankind.
Thank you for a conscious that pricks from time to time along life’s way.
Thank you for your forgiveness and pardon and love.
Thank you for peace of mind and joy of heart beyond our understanding.
To you “the” risen Christ, the King of Kings, and Lord of all I give my thanks.
Amen
